the tip: (looking like) /\ will have 4 edges that touch the very top corner. and so it is for the bottom, (looking like) \/ will have 4 edges that touch the very bottom corner. then the 4 edges around the shape (the once that are not going down or up, just around)

o ok i see now its 12 i was counting the wrong thing

you were likely counting just the solid lines that you can see on the attachment. But the shape itself has more as we should all agree....
