What do you think is the answer? Any ideas?

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

Having a compound subject doesn't take away the sentence's being a simple sentence.

OpenStudy (superflytyguy):

A. Beetles, scorpions, and spiders make their homes in the desert. Compound sentences contain independent clauses and subordinate clauses. This sentence only contains a independent clause.
