To fit the dimensions of the various land spaces, he realizes that the length of the pool has to be three times the size of the width plus 3, and the depth has to be 7 less than twice the length. Determine the polynomial expression to represent the area of land space that the pool will cover.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So far ive got 3x+3 for the length and 6x-1 for the depth but how do i find the area??

OpenStudy (misty1212):

if you are right, then the area is \[(3x+3)(6x-1)\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but area is length times width not length times depth right?

OpenStudy (dumbcow):

yes land space is only dealing with length and width since "x" is width Area = x(3x+3) = 3x(x+1)
