Reaction to someone breaking the rules of OS by @sleepyhead314

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Though I would like to improve one thing... There is a "No Direct Answers" rule. that includes giving an explanation along with the answer. For multiple choice, you can help the user by hinting at the correct answer by giving an explanation that uses key words from the answer, or by leading the asker through the processes of elimination. :) hope this helps ^_^

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Multiple choice questions are not allowed on OpenStudy.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

4 reactions a user does when you confront them when they give a direct answer. 1, They get mad at you 2, They claim to be innocent 3, They ignore you 4, They obey the rules

OpenStudy (anonymous):

4 is probably the most rarest one...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

#3 happens all the time.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No, 1 does.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Nope.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

1, They get mad at you 2, They claim to be innocent 3, They delete their comments 4, They ignore you 5, They obey the rules

OpenStudy (anonymous):

There. Now #3 happens all the time.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

LOL

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yup

OpenStudy (anonymous):

1, They get mad at you 2, They claim to be innocent 3, They delete their comments and ignore you 5, They obey the rules

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No, deleting comments goes with #2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Then where does "They claim to be innocent" go?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

They claim to be innocent by deleting comments.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ohhh....

OpenStudy (anonymous):

:P

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I wonder if I should give examples...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

O.O

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No, definitely not.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well, he ignored me when I confronted him when he gave direct answers and when I mentioned him that he ignores me when I confront him, he sent me a message saying "idiot don't dare tag me in one of your questions"

OpenStudy (abhisar):

RE: `Multiple choice questions are not allowed on OpenStudy.` I'll not say that's true but do not just copy and paste your problems. If people are going to spend time to help you, you should at least spend the time to ask your question as clearly as possible. Include which option do you think it is? Why or why not? It would be easier to tutor you if you explain what about the question is giving you trouble :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@Abhisar Do you not know that Multiple choice questions are test questions ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Found in: http://openstudy.com/terms-and-conditions Posting questions from tests, exams or other third party content may be an infringement of copyrights of the owner of the posted content. In most cases, asking for help on an exam or test, or helping someone during their test or exam, will be considered cheating by the institution or by OpenStudy. OpenStudy reserves the right to remove such content and/or suspend, ban or otherwise remove Users from the system who are suspected of cheating. If you feel there is an error, You may email contact@openstudy with an explanation but You acknowledge that the determination to remove content or suspend, ban or otherwise remove a User from the system is within the sole discretion of Company.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So...you deleted my comments when I mentioned those people's names because it hurts their feelings ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Lolololol

OpenStudy (anonymous):

"It's an act of defaming. This may turn out as depressing to sensitive users and may turn out into ugly fights too. We believe that every one can improve and want to give them at least one chance to do so. Now if you take names in public then a stigma might attach with that user and we definitely don't want that. That's why there is a process, report any of the mod about the bad things. They will talk to the offender and probably give them a chance to improve. if they listen to it, all's good, if not then further action will be taken." - Abhisar. I searched defaming in google and this came up 'damage the good reputation of (someone)...' I don't think giving direct answers is a good reputation.

@AnswerMyQuestions

OpenStudy (abhisar):

Well that's a very good point raised by you, I'll express my thoughts which may or may not be correct. RE: `Multiple Choice Questions are test questions` That's not true for every case. About the test/Quiz thing. The anti cheating policy says that you are not allowed to cheat and it is true when you are posting a Test/Quiz/Exam question from an \(\bf ongoing\) test/exam/quiz. What if someone wants to review there test after they have taken it?? Will you still consider that as cheating?? But you are true on the part of copyright infringement but it is not exclusive for MCQs but applies on every other content you post on OS.

OpenStudy (sleepyhead314):

@101 thank you for addressing that :) my responses are simply bandaids to patch up some common problems, not an actual fix of the root of the problems ^_^"

OpenStudy (abhisar):

Also re-read what those lines say, "Posting questions from tests, exams or other third party content `may be` an infringement of copyrights of the owner of the posted content." So there are many things which contradict your statement. \(\bullet\) All MCQs are not from test/exam/quiz \(\bullet\) If we consider that certain MCQ is from a test/exam/quiz, then it will be cheating only if the poster is posting it from an ongoing test/exam/quiz. \(\bullet\) Again, copyright infringement is a conditional clause and does not applies on every case. About taking names in public, You are not allowed to insult, berate or pass any kind of judgement on your own. There is a simple rule when you find a breach on policies and that is you inform the moderators by reporting or by messaging them. They are assigned for judging issues.
