Here is what I can do to help you: You can come up with questions in English about rooms in a home, and then try your very best to translate it.  Then post them here and I can check to see if they are grammatically correct or maybe someone else might be able to before me. xD  Also, if you need someone to interview, I'm available. :3

As for estar, you would use probably "donde está" the most. And for hay, it would be "Hay [blank].  So...let me give you a question:

Hay lampara en ese cuarto?

Is there a lamp in that room?
