Help with Probability

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i need some help on the question may anyone explain to me how i go by doing this

OpenStudy (phi):

dependence means if you are told what x value you got, you better predict what y value you got (and vice versa) for example, if I told you you got x=0, the odds for y=3 or 4 is 50-50 (0.5 prob for each) similarly for x=1 or x=2. the chance for getting y=3 or 4 does not depend on x's value.

OpenStudy (phi):

similarly, given y's value, we see the probability for each x value does not depend on the y value. both x and y are independent of each other.

OpenStudy (phi):

or we can use the formulas (did you learn any?)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i did

:) lol
