Will somebody please help with Algebra 1???? There are 156 laptops and desktop computers in a lab. There are 8 more laptops than desktop computers. What is the total number of laptops in the lab?

What I would do is first divide 156 in half standing for half of the computers are laptops the other half desk-tops. Then I would subtract 8 from one side and add that 8 to the other side. Do you think that would work?
