OpenStudy (hockeychick23):

Suppose that many samples are taken from a population whose mean value is 80. As the size of each sample increases, the mean of the sample means would approach which of the following? A. 76 B. 72 C. 80 D. 84 (I think its still 80 but just wanted to check, thanks!)

OpenStudy (perl):

the central limit theorem says that as the size of the samples increase , the mean of the distribution of sample means approaches the mean of the original population.

OpenStudy (hockeychick23):

So wouldn't that mean it stays the same because the original mean of the population was 80?

OpenStudy (perl):

yes

OpenStudy (perl):

the CLT says as n gets large, Mean_xbar = mean of population St.dev_xbar = st .dev population / sqrt(n)

OpenStudy (hockeychick23):

ok thanks!
