If East and West Germany had not reunified, it is most likely that East Germany and West Germany would have remained equally strong. West Germany would have grown much stronger than East Germany. East Germany and West Germany would have grown increasingly weak. East Germany would have grown much stronger than West Germany.

( As the two competitors USSR and US have been competing, the US has been trying by all means to assist the Eastern part of Germany (that the USSR conquered). ) West Germany was the free part of the country, assisted by US and other European countries, while the Eastern part was just occupied by the Soviets and nothing good was going on in it.

( You have likely watched American films about how bad the USSR was, and how US was helping Germany... how USSR has been weakening Germany and all that.... )
