A basketball is dropped from an original height of 9 feet and each bounce, bounces up the distance it fell. How far will it have traveled by the time it hits the ground the fourth time?

can you imagine the situation Brian? just think of dropping ball and it bouncing the same height from where you dropped.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It's just the how far the ball traveled the stumps me, I know a1 = 9 and 2/3 is the ratio... @SandeepReddy

9+12+8+16/3 = 34 which is the answer although I don't know where 12, 8, 16/3 came from. @SandeepReddy

how do you know the ratio is 2/3?? can you share your thought process?
