Help? What is the standard form of the equation of the given circle with center A(4, 8)?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (ghostgate):

I'm pretty sure 2.5 is the slope or acting slope? If so, you could use the point-slope formula to get the standard form equation.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

does this help?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

(x − 4)2 + (y − 8)2 = 2.5 (x + 4)2 + (y + 8)2 = 6.25 (x + 4)2 + (y + 8)2 = 2.5 (x − 4)2 + (y − 8)2 = 6.25

OpenStudy (anonymous):

idk why it's messing up like that..

@Ghostgate

OpenStudy (anonymous):

those are the answer choices btw .

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hello?

OpenStudy (ghostgate):

Well having the equations I guess allows you to work it out. Plug (4, 8) into each equation and solve. I'll do that real quick: (x - 4)2 + (y − 8)2 = 2.5 (4 - 4)2 + (8 - 8)2 = 2.5 (0)2 + (0)2 = 2.5 0 + 0 = 2.5 0 = 25 = False (x + 4)2 + (y + 8)2 = 6.25 (4 + 4)2 + (8 + 8)2 = 6.25 (8)2 + (16)2 = 6.25 16 + 32 = 6.25 48 = 6.25 = False.

OpenStudy (ghostgate):

Honestly I'm not really sure.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'm wanting to say it's C...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay thanks anyways !

OpenStudy (ghostgate):

I'm sorry I couldn't help you get the answer. :/
