Can someone guide me to answer this? Jim spent $46.16 on some mulch and one shovel. Each bag of mulch costs $3.49 and the shovel costs $14.75. How many bags of mulch did Jim buy? Write and solve an equivalent equation without decimals

OpenStudy (anonymous):

just guide me at a 7th grade level please

OpenStudy (aripotta):

so mulch + shovel = 46.16 shovel = 14.75 and 1 bag of mulch = 3.49 so 3.49m + 14.75 = 46.16

I'm confused on how to make the equation without decimals though

OpenStudy (aripotta):

why do you want it without decimals?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

because thats what it says in the quetion

OpenStudy (anonymous):

*question

OpenStudy (aripotta):

i think you need to solve for m first, and then write another equation equal to the number of bags

OpenStudy (aripotta):

idk exactly what it means

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok that makes sense so the last time I checked the answer was 9

OpenStudy (anonymous):

then what?

OpenStudy (aripotta):

i guess just come up with an equation with a variable that would be equal to 9

OpenStudy (aripotta):

i have to go unfortunately. good luck though :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok I will try I guess if not I will ask my dad

OpenStudy (aripotta):

sorry :/ tag some people for help
