Can someone help me with this proportion problem...x^2-9/x+3=x-3/2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

x^-9 = difference of two squares i.e. (x+3)(x-3) therefore the (x+3) below the dividing line cancel with the (x+3) above the line to give (x-3). i.e (x+3)(x-3)/(x+3) = (x-3) The second part of the question I dont get, becuase the result does not equal x-3/2
