Why did the Republican Party form? a) because southerners feared the government would abolish slavery b) because many people believed in popular sovereignty c) because of the desire of many to abolish slavery d) because people were outraged about the Dred Scott decision I originally thought the republican party formed because a group of whigs and democrats felt that their parties weren't taking the slavery issue strongly enough. because of this, they formed the party so they could raise awareness that there were people who took slavery seriously. Super confused! Please help!
i think its c) because the north was trying to stop slavery
yes, C is correct. Usually I wouldn't be handling out answers like this, but it was already done by someone else.
Wait I thought the Democrats were anti slavery as well? Is this false on my part?
Or was it that the Democrats just didnt make enough movements against it?
@Anderhill no democrats wanted slavery to keep going thats why they started war against the north. P.s thanks for the medal:-)
