Determine whether each function is continuous or discontinuous: A) First Class Postage as a function of weight

OpenStudy (anonymous):

If you graph this using x= weight and f(x) = Postage would there be any where on the graph that is discontinuous?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

F(x)=Postage... as in the price?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Do I just look up a price?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I saw somewhere that because the price is rounded per certain weights that it looks like the greatest integer function... which seems to make sense. I cannot find a chart with prices, though. And that graph does not seem to represent that?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ever sent a package?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you cannot buy postage for say \(\$\pi\) only decimals up to the hundredth place so is a a step function almost all real fife functions are step functions

This si simply a drawing of how this function would look.

hmmmm

@nelsonjedi That makes so much sense. I made a little chart that looks like this:|dw:1420596113700:dw|
