A train traveled 676 miles in 13 hours. At that rate, how far would it travel in 8 hours? answer has to be a numkber and miles : example 5 miles

OpenStudy (littlebird):

to find the rate at which something moves, you have to divide distance (miles) by time (hours).

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@maddie456 what do u think is the answer 5408

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thats the answer??

OpenStudy (littlebird):

That is not the answer. I was informed recently by one of this website's monitor's that I have to give you hints. I cannot explicitly give you the answer. Anyway, as I said before you have to first find the rate. You find the rate by dividing distance by time. The problem tells you that the distance travelled was 676 miles. The time was 13 hours. Now I am going to find the rate.....by dividing. 676/13=? After you figure that out, you will still have one more step. You have to find the distance traveled in 8 hours. Distance = rate x time

OpenStudy (anonymous):

676/13=52

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so 52x8 right???

OpenStudy (littlebird):

Yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

52x8=416

OpenStudy (littlebird):

Correct

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so the answer is 416

OpenStudy (littlebird):

yes
