Help with Geometry?

OpenStudy (ayyookyndall):

What is the most precise name for quadrilateral ABCD with vertices A(-4,-1), B(-2,-5), C(4,-2), and D(2,2)? a. parallelogram b. rhombus c. quadrilateral d. rectangle

OpenStudy (confluxepic):

You just graph it. @ayyookyndall

OpenStudy (confluxepic):

Plug the points into this. https://www.desmos.com/calculator

OpenStudy (ayyookyndall):

I graphed it in... Would you say its a rectangle? @confluxepic

OpenStudy (ayyookyndall):

@StudyGurl14 Can you help me?

OpenStudy (studygurl14):

To find the answer, you'll need to find the equations of the lines of the sides the four points create. You'll also need to use the distance formula.

OpenStudy (studygurl14):

syed98 (syedmohammed98):

simply use the formula m=y2-y2/(x2-x1) like A to B then B to C C to D and then D to A ...

OpenStudy (ayyookyndall):

So I am correct? Its a rectangle?

syed98 (syedmohammed98):

i have given the formula :)

OpenStudy (studygurl14):

Right. You don't need to find the whole equations of the lines, just the slope of the lines. That way you can figure out if the sides are perpendicular, parallel, etc.

OpenStudy (ayyookyndall):

Can you help me with one more? @StudyGurl14

OpenStudy (ayyookyndall):

Actually a couple more**
