sqrt 50y^12

OpenStudy (haleyelizabeth2017):

\[\large \sqrt{50y^{12}}\] is this what it looks like? What are you supposed to do? Simplify?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

OpenStudy (haleyelizabeth2017):

\[2y^6\sqrt{25}\] This is what we need to do first :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes simplify

OpenStudy (haleyelizabeth2017):

wait.....no it is \[5y^6 \sqrt{2}\] sorry lol

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ya i was about to say lol

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how do you do it

OpenStudy (haleyelizabeth2017):

I kinda mixed it up at first lol

OpenStudy (haleyelizabeth2017):

Okay just one second :P

OpenStudy (anonymous):

im just seein if she doin it right :)

OpenStudy (haleyelizabeth2017):

So when you have the \(\sqrt{y^{12}}\), you normally just divide it by 2 and move it to the outside of the sqrt because it cancels them out. Does that make sense?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

OpenStudy (haleyelizabeth2017):

okay then you split the sqrt into \(\sqrt {25}~and~\sqrt {2}\) and since \(\sqrt {25}\) square roots easily, we have it as \(5y^6\sqrt {2}\)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank i understand it better

OpenStudy (haleyelizabeth2017):

:)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

good job @haleyelizabeth2017

OpenStudy (haleyelizabeth2017):

thanks! :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

id give u more medals but i cant :(

OpenStudy (haleyelizabeth2017):

What math is this anyways? :)

OpenStudy (haleyelizabeth2017):

lol its all good :P

OpenStudy (anonymous):

looks like trig or geo

OpenStudy (haleyelizabeth2017):

I think geo.....

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i was geo honars last year now im in trig and collage cal

OpenStudy (haleyelizabeth2017):

geeze! I did geometry last year in public school and this year I am doing honors algebra 2 in online school

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i hate alg 2 but i did it

OpenStudy (haleyelizabeth2017):

its annoying :(

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ya my mom calls me a genuis im like ughh no iaint
