x-2y=8 2y-3x=-4
Hey :) What's the question? Solve system of equation, solve by elimination/substitution, etc?
substitution
x-2y=8 -----------------(1) 2y-3x=-4 -----------------(2) x-2y=8 -----------------(1) -3x+2y=-4 -----------------(2) adding equation 1 and 2 -2x=4 x=-2 y=-5
Yup, but that's elimination. If you need to show your work for substitution, you get the same answer but it will look like: x-2y=8 ----> x=2y+8 2y-3x=-4 I moved x around so it could equal something so I could plug it in to find y. 2y-3(2y+8)=-4 2y-6y-24=-4 -4y=20 y=-5 Back to the first equation to plug in y to find x.. x-2y=8 x-2(-5)=8 x+10=8 x=-2 So you find the same thing as above, x=-2, y=-5. But if you're asked to show your work, you''d get points off for doing elimination. This is how to do it with the substitution method. Hope this helps :)
