Just as your instructions say, I'd recommend following these steps:
- say who you are describing
- give his / her name
- write some adjectives using the verb *ser*.

So, imagine you want to describe your mother. This is what you'd say:

Mi madre se llama... [give your mother's name here]. Ella es... [write some adjectives that describe her here]
