algebra help? 11th grade

OpenStudy (anonymous):

whatcha got for me bud :D

OpenStudy (finallyausername):

OpenStudy (finallyausername):

@anx

OpenStudy (anonymous):

do you know this material?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@finallyausername

OpenStudy (finallyausername):

not much, no

OpenStudy (anonymous):

do you know how to plot these numbers on a graph?

OpenStudy (finallyausername):

no. i dont know what this is

OpenStudy (anonymous):

first, you must plot all the points on a graph. tell me when you have done this

OpenStudy (anonymous):

X,Y graph

OpenStudy (finallyausername):

k. i did

OpenStudy (anonymous):

this is a pic of what a regression line looks like http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/3/3a/Linear_regression.svg/400px-Linear_regression.svg.png

OpenStudy (finallyausername):

oh so the dots form an up to the right line in the problem

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes, pretty much :D

OpenStudy (finallyausername):

so what next?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so you draw all of the lines, and see which one is most accurate according to the problem

OpenStudy (finallyausername):

?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so all the answers are lines, you must plot all the lines, and see which one looks most accurate

OpenStudy (finallyausername):

that would be B

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so B is your answer

OpenStudy (finallyausername):

you sure?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well, i am not allowed to tell u the answer per-say because that is unallowed on this site. but i have walked you through it, so... its your work

OpenStudy (finallyausername):

yes i understand but how is b most accurate?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

which one is the closest to the center

OpenStudy (finallyausername):

i would need to know how to turn a line into an equation

OpenStudy (finallyausername):

i think

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what do you mean?? this is a regression line right??

OpenStudy (finallyausername):

its difinatly a or b y = 3x + 2 is the same as y = 3x -2 they look the same on the graph

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hmmmm

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hold on

OpenStudy (anonymous):

they shouldnt be

OpenStudy (anonymous):

+2 should be higher than -2 on the graph

OpenStudy (finallyausername):

yeah it is. i got a. thanks for your help :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

np mate :D
