@ShadowLegendX
OpenStudy (shadowlegendx):
Here we go! The correct section :P
OpenStudy (shadowlegendx):
The answer is definitely not D, as there should be a comma right after James. So that's incorrect.
OpenStudy (shadowlegendx):
A doesn't even use commas, so it's not that one
OpenStudy (shadowlegendx):
It's between B and C, which one do you think it is?

OpenStudy (arabpride):
B.) is indeed correct, because "Elizabeth" is an appositive as well as a non-essential clause. When dealing with non-essential clauses, one must separate the "unnecessary" information aside with commas.
OpenStudy (twizttiez):
Well look and see if B sounds right just repeat it to yourself and see if it sounds right
OpenStudy (shadowlegendx):
Commas are like pauses in a sentence. Try read the sentence out loud to see if they make sense, try.
OpenStudy (anonymous):
C I mean

OpenStudy (shadowlegendx):
@rainbowhorse1 You were correct with B, but I wanted to see why you thought it was B to make sure if you were guessing or not.
OpenStudy (twizttiez):
But fully read @arabpride description so you can learn why B is correct
OpenStudy (shadowlegendx):
Grammar is hard and confusing, I know your pain. But in order to learn it you got to learn the descriptions of all the little things. It's quite boring, but worth it when you can Grammar Nazi the fadoodle out of people.
OpenStudy (twizttiez):
Exactly what @ShadowLegendX lol

And if you want us to explain what clauses are we would be more than happy to help
OpenStudy (shadowlegendx):
I abuse commas to the fullest as I know the uses of it, and my teacher knows it. She makes us write a story under 5 sentences about a certain topic or scene. It must contain 8+ vocab words and 5+ extra ones for extra credit. I am a very creative writer so I like to make my stories long and descriptive, so I use commas like an extension for these sentences, adding pauses here and there.
OpenStudy (arabpride):
A non-essential clause is what some like to call the "noise" inside of a sentence, kind-of like the distraction from the subject and object. Hence the term "non-essential". "Elizabeth" is not exactly "essential" in the understanding of the sentence, so if it was removed from the sentence [along with the commas] one could clearly see that the sentence flows JUST as effectively. c: Make sense?
OpenStudy (shadowlegendx):
5 or less*
OpenStudy (twizttiez):
I hope they helped lol just make sure ro read through what they have told you grammar is essential trust me

C because there should be a comma before and after someones name
OpenStudy (arabpride):
C.) is correct, but because it is an appositive, not because it's a name c:
OpenStudy (twizttiez):
Props
OpenStudy (twizttiez):
High five!

Btw An appositive is a noun or noun phrase that renames another noun right beside it. The appositive can be a short or long combination of words. Look at these examples: The insect, a wingspanroach, is crawling across the kitchen table.
OpenStudy (arabpride):
B00yaw <high fivez> cx
OpenStudy (twizttiez):
