Marco and his two younger sisters would like to purchase a silver charm bracelet for their mother's birthday. They went to the mall and found what they were looking for at Store A. In Store A, the bracelet without charms costs $85 and each charm costs $15. Use function notation that models the total price of the bracelet and how that price is based on the number of charms. Explain the reasoning behind your equation.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how many charms do they need?

OpenStudy (sparklestaraa):

5.6 ?

OpenStudy (sparklestaraa):

@Lucinda12345

OpenStudy (anonymous):

85+15x, where x is the number of charms.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes that is correct @Takashi

OpenStudy (anonymous):

1 charm=100 2 charms 115 3 charms 130 and so on and so forth.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

And thank you. @Sparklestaraa

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oops @Lucinda12345

OpenStudy (sparklestaraa):

oh ok that makes sense but how do i use function notation that models the total price.

OpenStudy (sparklestaraa):

@Takashi

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You plug in however many charms the guy is buying instead of x. Say he was buying five. The problem would be 85+15*5.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Which would be 160.

OpenStudy (sparklestaraa):

and thats the function notion ohh i thought function notation was f(x)=

OpenStudy (sparklestaraa):

@Takashi

OpenStudy (anonymous):

That too. But thats more advanced algebra. brb.
