What are some strengths and weaknesses of the Declaration of Independence?

It elegantly makes the case for American Independence. It's logic is flawless. A classic piece of rhetoric.
It is a statement of principles on which to base a government. It falls short in offering how that government should be achieved. Americans have attempted to live up to it's ideals. But, being lofty ideals, it's difficult to quantify success. Every generation or group or individual can interpret the ideals to suit themselves.
