helppp?
What do you need help with :P You ca post your question as a thread instead of 'help', because we are all here to help =)
A chocolate bar measures 40 mm wide, 80 mm long, and 5 and 1 over 2 mm high. Will’s Wrapping Company is making a wrapper to cover the chocolate bar. Use the correct net and determine how much paper will be needed to make the wrapper. The net of a rectangular prism with a height of 40 millimeters, a length of 80 millimeters, and a width of 5 and 1 over 2 millimeters. Will’s Wrapping Company needs 3,860 mm2 of paper to wrap the chocolate bar. Will’s Wrapping Company needs 7,720 mm2 of paper to wrap the chocolate bar. Will’s Wrapping Company needs 8,160 mm2 of paper to wrap the chocolate bar. Will’s Wrapping Company needs 15,440 mm2 of paper to wrap the chocolate bar.
:( All I see is black diamonds with question marks. Give me a sec to refresh
Well, that means we need to find the area of the rectangular prism. Do you know the formula to use when finding the area of this prism?
no
The formula is \(\rm \color{blueviolet}{A~=~2(wl~+~hl~+~hw)}\) Where w = width, h = height, and l = length. We know that w = \(\rm \color{blueviolet}{5\dfrac{1}{2}mm}\) l = \(\rm \color{blueviolet}{80mm}\) h = \(\rm \color{blueviolet}{40mm}\) So we have to plug in the values in the formula \(\rm \color{blueviolet}{A~=~2(5\dfrac{1}{2}\times 80~+~40\times 80~+~40\times 5\dfrac{1}{2})}\) Can you solve that?
We can convert \(\rm \color{blueviolet}{5\dfrac{1}{2}}\) to \(\rm \color{blueviolet}{5.5}\) to make things easier \(\rm \color{blueviolet}{A~=~2(5.5\times 80~+~40\times 80~+~40\times 5.5)}\)
@sjman1
THANKKK U SOO MUCH U DONT EVEN KNOW HOW BAD I needed your help :) @sammixboo
so the awnswer is A? @sammixboo
:P you forgot to multiply it by 2
And no problem =)
i think its c? @sammixboo
Hmm no :( But let's solve this problem together! \(\rm \color{blueviolet}{A~=~2(5.5\times 80~+~40\times 80~+~40\times 5.5)}\) We have to do what is int he parenthesis first, and in the parenthesis we have to do all the multiplication first starting from the left side of the equation \(\rm A~=~2(\color{blueviolet}{5.5\times 80}~+~40\times 80~+~40\times 5.5)\) What is 5.5*80?
440? @sammixboo
Correct, so we have \(\rm \color{blueviolet}{A~=~2(440~+~40\times 80~+~40\times 5.5)}\) Now onto the next multiplication =) \(\rm A~=~2(440~+~\color{blueviolet}{40\times 80}~+~40\times 5.5)\) What is 40*80?
3200? @sammixboo
3200? @sammixboo
Correct! Onto the next multiplication. What is Correct, so we have \(\rm \color{blueviolet}{A~=~2(440~+~3200~+~40\times 5.5)}\) Now onto the next multiplication =) \(\rm A~=~2(440~+~3200~+~\color{blueviolet}{40\times 5.5})\) What is 40*5.5?
220?
Good so we have \(\rm \color{blueviolet}{A~=~2(440~+~3200~+~220)}\) ow, still working in the parenthesis, what is 440 + 3200 + 220?
3860? @sammixboo
Correct, so now we have A = 2*3860
So what is 2*3860?
7720
@sammixboo 7720
Yes =) And that is your answer
thank u 4 being patient :)
