A 125-lb person burns 110 calories walking at 2 mi/h for an hour. That same person burns 180 calories walking at 3 mi/h and 260 calories walking at 4 mi/h. How many calories does a 125-lb person burn in 1 hour by walking 5 mi/h?

Step by step, I don't want the answer.

I think its a pattern.. mph ---- cal 2 ------ 110 3 ------ 180 4 ------ 260 5 ------ ? 180 - 110 = 70 (difference of 70)....so 70 was added to find the next calorie number 260 - 180 = 80 (difference of 80)...so 80 was added to find the next calorie number so the next number...5 mph.....add 90 to 260

OpenStudy (texaschic101):

@Nnesha .....we are getting conflicting answers...can you help

OpenStudy (texaschic101):

@Directrix .... can you take a look at this....we are getting conflicting answers

OpenStudy (texaschic101):

I did this wrong didn't I ?? Is the answer 350 or 375

Directrix (directrix):

So, why is this wrong: so the next number...5 mph.....add 90 to 260

OpenStudy (anonymous):

my answer is so complicated but must be true yours is simple and makes sense i dont know why our answers doenst match

OpenStudy (texaschic101):

so its right ? I got confused by looking at etaal4's answer...they are different

Directrix (directrix):

Your pattern shows 350. I didn't see the other solution.

OpenStudy (texaschic101):

its in a link that @etaal4 posted ^^ up above

Directrix (directrix):

I see it. I'm trying to slow down the animation. I'm still with 350 so far.

OpenStudy (texaschic101):

lol....I had to look at it more then once

OpenStudy (texaschic101):

I still think it is 350.....but not 100% sure

OpenStudy (texaschic101):

@Nnesha

OpenStudy (texaschic101):

I am sorry but I have to go now....maybe somebody will come and confirm an answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thank you @texaschic101 and @Directrix
