How do I solve x2 + 4x - 12 = 0?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you put 0 in for x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The options were x = 2, x = -6 x = -2, x = -6 x = 3, x = -4 x = -3, x = 4 And I was wondering how to get one of these

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you put those in for x til you get the answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

do you know the formula \(x = \dfrac{-b\pm \sqrt{b^2-4ac}}{2a}\)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Sorta

OpenStudy (anonymous):

in the equation \( \color {red}{1}x^2+\color{blue}{4}x \color{green}{-12}=0\) you have \(\color {red}{a=1}\), \(\color{blue}{b=4}\) and \(\color{green}{c=-12}\) just replace them to the formula above to get 2 values of x. Those must be one of the options.

OOOOOOoOOOOOOOoookkkkkK gotcha

Thank you
