The perimeter of a rectangle is 68cm, The length is 4 cm more than its width. Find the dimensions of the rectangle.

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

let the width be w then the length is w + 4 so then using the perimeter information 68 = 2w + 2l or 68 = 2w + 2(w + 4) you now have an equation in 1 variable you can solve 68 = 2w + 2w + 8 or 68 = 4w + 8 so just solve for w when you get the width, add 4 to it to find the length hope it helps
