The 2 main advantages were: The colonists got considerable help from France, which paid for almost all the gunpowder they used, and sent an army and (more importantly) a fleet to America to help fight the British. It was this fleet that blockaded Cornwallis at Yorktown and forced the surrender of the last British field army in the American colonies. French involvement in the war also globalized the conflict, which meant British resources were diverted away from America to fight the French in other places. Lord North, the British Prime Minister who directed overall British policy and the overall British war effort was incompetent. There was considerable opposition, both inside and outside of Parliament in Britain, to North's treatment of the colonies and to his conduct of the war.HOPE IT HELPS :)
