I forgot the name of the scientist to suggest Pangaea, but I do know that he saw that all of the continents could fit like a puzzle, but he did not have a way of explaining their movement. 50 years later another scientist studying ocean floors came to a spot where lava was coming out and saw that as it came into contact with the water it would harden and push out wards. This was the key to the movement of continents and the Pangaea theory was approved.
