A coffee pot makes 6 cups of coffee in 1 1/2 min. How many cups of coffee can the coffee pot make in 1 min?

We know that the coffee pot makes 6 cups of coffee in 1.5 minutes, so in order to solve the problem we first need to find out how long it takes to make one cup of coffee. If it takes 1.5 minutes to make 6, then let's divide 1.5 by 6 to see how long it takes to make one cup. We come up with 0.25, so it takes a quarter of a minute, or 25 seconds, to make one cup. But we're trying to find out how many cups it can make in 60 seconds, so let's divide 60 by 25. We come up with 2.4 cups. The .4 does not count, because it is not a full cup. So, in one minute, the coffee pot can make about 2 cups of coffee.
