chromosomes are not produced during division in meiosis. the dna is replicated in the S phase because of which there is double the no of chromosomes present initially. the naswer is right but i needed to give this explanation. meiosis is not resposible for doubling the chromosome no....at the end of meiosis actually the no of chromosomes reduce by half...:)
