A toy car in a science experiment covers 1.6 meters in half a second. If the car travels at a steady speed, how far will it go in 10 seconds? A. 0.8 m B. 8 m C. 16 m D. 32 m

OpenStudy (nerdgirl):

The answer is C.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

can u help explain why please

OpenStudy (nerdgirl):

Certainly. When the problem says it travels 1.6 meters in half a second, and it says how long will it travel in however many seconds, all you have to do is multiply the first number they give you by the other number. Does that make sense?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes thank u

OpenStudy (nerdgirl):

With every passing second, the amount of meters it will go increases. For example, after 2 seconds it will go 3.2 m, after 4 seconds it will go 6.4 m, and so on. Ok?

OpenStudy (nerdgirl):

Anytime.
