What shape is this? and do these diagonals bisect each other?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Is it a parellelogram?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

can you help @freckles?

OpenStudy (freckles):

well find the lengths and see if the opposite lengths are congruent if they are then you know it is either parallelogram or a rectangle if the slopes of the line segments that share a common vertex are opposite reciprocals of one another, then it is a rectangle if the slopes of the opposite line segments have the same slope, then is a parallelogram

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay thanks so that means it's a parellelogram, but would that mean the diagonals bisect each other?

OpenStudy (freckles):

i agree with your description of the shape yeah opposite line segments are congruent and also same in slope :)

OpenStudy (freckles):

by definition they do bisect each other

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok thanks
