find the solution of this system of equations , -6x + 3y=-39 -6x - 3y =-21

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Add the two equations together what do you end up with?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i'm trying to do it. but i always end up mesing up on the the negative or postives, im doing a test online, and no matter what i try i keep getting them all wrong

OpenStudy (anonymous):

-6x + -6x = what?

OpenStudy (misty1212):

hi!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i know that part, they cancel out.

OpenStudy (misty1212):

if you really want to do a test on line, then go ahead and cheat for real check this out http://www.wolframalpha.com/input/?i=-6x+%2B+3y%3D-39%2C+-6x+-+3y+%3D-21

OpenStudy (anonymous):

-6x + -6x do not cancel out

OpenStudy (anonymous):

im oing online schooling. they do cancel out because theyre the same. im trying to get an ordered pair, so x's cancel out, and i solve for Y, then plug in Y to solve for the X, i know how to do it. i just keep geting the signs wrong

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Negative plus a negative = a negative ALWAYS Positive plus a positive = a positive ALWAYS So -6x PLUS -6x = -12x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Now +3y PLUS -3y equals what?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks misty lol
