sean is taking some friends on a picnic. they'll need to follow a path to get to the spot. the map of the path is based on a scale of 1;40,000 if the path is 15cm on the map how many kilometers is the actual path? PLEASE HELP!!!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

1:40000 means for every one scale on the map = 40000 time that scale in the reality. 1:40000 ~15 : x. then x will be in cm.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you have to convert x to kilometers as what is asked.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I don't know how to do that

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[\frac{ 2 }{ 3 } = \frac{ x}{ 6 }.\] you don't know how to do that?

4 ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yea . use the same methodology in your question. the ratio between lengths should be conserved allover the map.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I mean the scale is constant.
