What is the next term of the sequence -3, 6, -12, 24,…?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The pattern is actually that it doubles and changes sign...

OpenStudy (cwrw238):

note that ecah number is obtained by multiplying the last by a constant number - can you see what that is?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no...

OpenStudy (cwrw238):

-3 * x = 6 what is x ?

OpenStudy (cwrw238):

also 6 * x = -12

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so x is 2 ?

OpenStudy (cwrw238):

not 2 you got the sign wrong its -2 6 * -2 = -12

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh . thank you . so i just do that with all of them and ill find the next one?

OpenStudy (cwrw238):

yes the next term is 24 * -2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so the answer is -48

OpenStudy (cwrw238):
