Also, if we may look at the order from the point of view of syntax, it's
ID + DO + verb
nos + lo + lee

* ID: indirect object: this is usually the answer to a "To/For whom?" question. (To/For whom do you read?) --> *nos* (= to us)

* DO: direct object: this is usually the answer to a "What?" question. [What do you read?) --> *lo* [= it, that]

* verb --> *lee* [= reads]
