Why did Civil Rights leaders expect that World War II would help their movement reach its goals more quickly? African Americans were strong supporters of the war effort. African Americans joined unions in large numbers during the war. African American leaders agreed not to hold protests until the war was over. African Americans moved back to farms in the South in large numbers during the war.
