need help i did something wrong will medal

OpenStudy (chosenmatt):

kay

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[find -\left[ f(x)+g(x)-h(x) \right]\] \[f(x)=5x ^{3}+3x ^{2}-7x\] \[g(x)=3x ^{3}-5x ^{2}-2\] \[h(x)=-9x ^{2}+8\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay so like i think what confuses me is the negative sign in front of the not parenthesis but u know what i mean

OpenStudy (anonymous):

like am i supposed to distribute that?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@chosenmatt

@iGreen

OpenStudy (igreen):

\((5x^3 + 3x^2 - 7x) + (3x^3 - 5x^2 - 2) - (-9x^2 + 8)\) Combine like terms

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yea i get that but what about the negative?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

do i distribute it now or wait till after i have solved

OpenStudy (igreen):

It's best to distribute now.. I guess..can you do that?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

this is how it looks before distributing \[-\left[ (5x ^{3}+3x ^{2}-7x)+(3x ^{3}-5x ^{2}-2)-(-9x+8) \right]\] so i should distribute the negitive sign first okay one second because i did that before and i got the wrong anwser so i guess i added or subtracted something wrong

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay im doing something wrong because i keep getting the wrong anwser

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@iGreen

OpenStudy (igreen):

\(-(-9x + 8)\) \(-9x \times -1\) \(8 \times -1\)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wait what that doesnt make sense

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@iGreen
