when it comes to exponential formulas, what does r represent in this: b = 1 + r ? parent exponential formula: f(x) = ab^x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

b does correspond with b.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

R mean's a remainder .

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hmm I'm not sure about the rest sorry ...

OpenStudy (xapproachesinfinity):

r represents the rate

OpenStudy (anonymous):

remainder? my teacher used it to find the annual rate?

OpenStudy (xapproachesinfinity):

suppose you have a balance in a bank account call it p this bank is very generous and they offer you 12% interest rate you had p in your account after 1 year how much you should get? P+12%P=P(1+12/100) after 6 years it should be P(1+12/100)^6

OpenStudy (xapproachesinfinity):

in more general situation we denote rate of interest by r and there are other things involved like how many compounds are interested about like instead of a year you want to know how much you will earn in half a year or even daily and so on
