Can anybody help me please?
18 of the 40 children at a playground are girls. Compare the number of girls to the total number of children. Write your answer as a percent and a fraction.

Well if 18/40 is .45 so the percent is 45% and the fraction 9/20

Ok, I know what the fraction is, but how is the percent 45? I want to understand what I messed up with.

you convert the 20 in 9/20 to 100, right? That's what I thought you did, but I didn't know.

The percent is 45% because 18 divided by 40 is .45. And to convert a decimal to a percent all you do is add 2 spaces from the dot. Like .54 is 54% or .456 is 45.6%. And another thing with decimal to fraction if the decimal is .4 you just add a zero behind it so it is 40%. I hope you got it.

And what do you mean "you convert the 20 in 9/20 to 100, right? That's what I thought you did, but I didn't know". I just used a decimal to fraction calculator. I could have done it in my head but 1. i wanted a quick answer because 2. i forgot how to convert decimals to fractions.
