What is the mass number of an alpha particle? What is the identity of an alpha particle?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I don't know what alpha particle actually :P

OpenStudy (sleepyhead314):

Hello :) I saw you asking for help in the math chat... I've never learned this topic before, so I might be wrong but from googling it, it seems that an "alpha particle" is something made up of 2 protons and 2 neutrons so if you know how much a proton and neutron weigh, you can probably add them up :)

OpenStudy (sleepyhead314):

although I'm not sure what they mean by "identity"??? perhaps definition or the greek character that represents it?

Well thank you for trying to help
