During the Crusades, ties with the Islamic world became dangerous. The Islamic world didn't care for the Crusaders, and the Crusaders hated the Islamic world. However, The Islamic world made a mass contribution to the development of math, science, and astronomy. In fact, their development of new mathematical formulas  carried over into the European world during the Renaissance, helping the cultural and educational rebirth.
