Help with trig please

OpenStudy (darkbluechocobo):

\[If \sin \theta=-\frac{ 4 }{ 5 } and \tan \theta=\frac{ 4 }{ 3 } find \sec\]

OpenStudy (darkbluechocobo):

\[\sec \theta\]*

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

maybe rewrite `tan` as `sin/cos` and try finding the value of `cos` first

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

\[\tan \theta = \dfrac{4}{3}\] \[\dfrac{\sin \theta}{\cos \theta } = \dfrac{4}{3}\]

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

Oh you can replace `1/cos` on left hand side by `sec` right away : \[\sec\theta \sin\theta = \dfrac{4}{3}\]

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

plugin the value of `sin` and isolate `sec`
