Please help, I need to write a two-column proof? Given: 7y = 8x - 14; y = 6 Prove: x = 7

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I already have some of it done....but I got stuck 7y = 8x - 14 ; y = 6 Given 7(6) = 8x - 14 Substitution Property of Equality 42 = 8x - 14 Distribution Property (??? I think...)

OpenStudy (agl202):

7(6) = 8x-14 (Substitution Property of Equality) 42 = 8x-14 (Multiplication Property) 56 = 8x (Addition Property of Equality) 56/8 = x (Division Property Of Equality) 7 = x (Division Property) Hope this helped!
