Can someone please explain to me how to solve for X?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (dtan5457):

Opposite angles are congruent therefore 7x+13=8x-8 solve for x.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I got that part, but I'm not really sure how to solve for X.

OpenStudy (dtan5457):

hmm. subtract the 8x and subtract the 13, so you have all x values to one side, and regular numbers to the other

OpenStudy (dtan5457):

understand?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I think so. Thanks.

OpenStudy (dtan5457):

To make sure, what did you get for your x value?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'm still trying to solve it, but I think I might be able to get it.

OpenStudy (dtan5457):

ok. take your time, let me know what you get, so i can check your answer, though

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay. Thank you again.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I don't think I did this correctly, but this is what I got. 7x+13=8x-8 7x+13=x 6=x Sorry. I moved to a new school & they didn't teach this.

OpenStudy (dtan5457):

hmm not quite. 7x+13=8x-8 -8x -8x -x+13=-8 -13 -13 -x=-21 switch signs x=21

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh okay, that makes a lot more sense. Thank you so much!

OpenStudy (dtan5457):

alright, no problem. any more questions ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no, I don't think so.

OpenStudy (dtan5457):

alright. feel free to fan and medal for further help in the future. see ya :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay, I will. Thanks again.
