Sulfur DIoxide means per one sulfur atom, you would have 2 oxygen atoms because "DI" means 2. Sulfur dioxide is written as SO2
Like Carbon DIoxide is written as CO2 because for one carbon atom, there are 2 oxygen atoms.
Sulfure TRIoxide means per one sulfur atom you would have 3 oxygen atoms because "TRI" means 3. So what do you think sulfur trioxide would be?
