Jessica purchased a DVD that was on sale for 12% off. The sales tax in her county is 3%. Let y represent the original price of the DVD. Write an expression that can be used to determine the final cost of the DVD.
I have two essays and this exam im sooooo mad I hate these essays
(y*(100% - 12%))*(100%+3%) Simplified y*(1-.12)*(1+.03) (0.88y)(1.03) 0.9064y
I don't get it can u explain?
Anyone there?
If the item is 12% off then you are paying for 88% of the item or 0.88. When you pay tax you pay for 100% of the item plus the tax rate. In this example that rate is 3%. So you play 103% or 1.03 in decimal form.
So you multiply the price of the item y by 0.88 and 1.03 The expression is (0.88)(1.03)(y)
oh
oh so that's the answer
I just wrote it down
thnxs
I have another question plz. In Brock’s class of 25 students, 15 students report that math is their favorite class and 40% of the students report that science is their favorite class. Show your work to explain how to determine whether more students prefer math or science.
