cars for you will rent a car for $11.00 per day plus $0.27 per mile driven. Rent-A-Rama will rent the same car for 26.00 per day plus $0.27 per mile driven A: Write an equation that represents the situation when the total rental cost for one day is the same at both rental agencies B: For how many miles is the total rental cost for one day the same for each car? C: If you plan to rent a car for one day and drive 100 miles, which rental agency should you choose

OpenStudy (acxbox22):

are u sure the question is right? cuz both have the same charge per mile driven and have different costs per day so they will never be equal for number 1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ya i do online math that is what it says

OpenStudy (acxbox22):

post a screenshot of the question

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how

OpenStudy (dan815):

okay so write an equation make up some variable names

OpenStudy (dan815):

let m be the number of miles let d be for the number of days this company "cars for you" will charge charge=11*d+0.27m

OpenStudy (dan815):

what about the charge for the other company?

OpenStudy (acxbox22):

it asks for 1 day tho so i dont think it is 11d

OpenStudy (dan815):

it is if u set d=1

OpenStudy (dan815):

and ya this equation has no solution, as they have the same cost for miles driven

OpenStudy (dan815):

meaning so rate of change wrt to miles driven, so lines of same slope there cannot be an intersection for 2 lines of same slope unless they are the same line
